Cebu City Back To ECQ

Cebu City back to Enhanced Community Quarantine(ECQ) from General Community Quarantine(GCQ) effective  June 16, 2020 to June 30, 2020. The main reason why Cebu City back to EQC because positive cases increases everyday according to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. 

CEBU City will revert to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) because of a spike in new coronavirus cases and widespread community transmission of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The IATF’s recommendations, which are contained in Resolution No. 46-A, were approved by President Rodrigo Duterte Monday night, June 15, 2020.

The President, however, said the new quarantine classifications could still be modified after he meets with the business community.

"'Yan na muna ang ano natin, but later on...tomorrow or day after, after I shall have talked to the businessmen, then we can decide whether or not we can still modify the modified lockdown that we have imposed," Duterte said at the start of the meeting which was broadcast on state television.

Aside from escalating quarantine restrictions in the cities of Cebu, Duterte also approved the IATF recommendation to retain the general community quarantine (GCQ) in the entire Metro Manila.

Other areas that will remain under GCQ are:

Cagayan Valley (Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Santiago City)

Central Luzon (Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac and Olongapo City)

Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon)

Occidental Mindoro

Central Visayas (Bohol, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu province, except Cebu City and Talisay City)

Zamboanga City

Davao City

The rest of the country will remain under modified GCQ until June 30.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, reported to President Duterte that his team observed an increase in severe cases of Covid-19 in Cebu City.

“No’ng pagbisita po namin sa Cebu po, Sir - dalawang araw po kami roon - nakita po namin talaga na medyo tumataas po yung mga severe cases, meaning, yung mga hospital, marami pong na-admit na na-intubate,” he said.

Galvez said the task force will send 20 ventilators and 6,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) sets to Cebu City on Tuesday, June 16.

The ventilators are among the 55 machines donated by San Miguel Corporation president and CEO Ramon Ang.

Galvez said that of the 15 areas with the highest cases of coronavirus infection in the country, 11 are in Cebu City.

He cited Barangay Mambaling, which has more than 680 cases, and Barangay Luz, which has 216 active cases.

Galvez said Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III will also send a surveillance team to Cebu City on Wednesday, June 17.

Two hospitals in Cebu City, Chong Hua Hospital and Cebu Doctors University Hospital, earlier announced that they were expanding their capacities to admit Covid-19 patients.
